Are you passionate about social justice? Do you want to get involved in your community but don’t know how? Learn how to be the leader you were born to be!

With decades of experience in public service and community-building, Dr. Susan Eggman was elected in 2012 to represent the 13th Assembly District. She is a veteran of the U.S. Army, a licensed clinical social worker, a former professor of social work, and was the first Latina elected to the Stockton City Council.

The Undergraduate Social Work Association, Social Action Committee, OutReach, and the Latino Student Social Work Association have all partnered to bring Assemblymember Susan Eggman to SDSU on September 27th. Prior to her speaking engagement at 6:30pm, we will also be hosting a Social Work Ethics seminar at 4:00pm and a Networking Mixer at 5:00pm with appetizers and beverages served. Food is a available on a first come, first serve basis.

SDSU seniors in the College of Health and Human Services majors: This IS an approved cord point event! Earn a special cord to wear at graduation if you attend enough CHHS approved events during your senior year.

Volunteer at the 9/11 Heroes Run on September 8th

The Undergraduate Social Work Association has found an amazing opportunity to volunteer for the "9/11 Heroes Run San Diego." The 5k run/walk is going to take place Sunday, September 8th 2013. We are looking for people to volunteer on that day from 7-11 and help cheer on the runners/walkers and distribute water.

The event is being put on by The Travis Manion Foundation, and their goal is to "assist our nation's veterans and service members, and support families of fallen heroes."

If you would like to join USWA and help volunteer at this event please email megclauson@gmail.com with your first and last name and your email address as soon as possible, and no later than September 2nd!
